Volunteer Job Descriptions:
Usher: takes tickets, show patrons where to sit, hands out programs, assists in cleanup of venue after each performance, monitors patron activity during the show.
Ticket/Cash Handler/Recorder: sells tickets and Fringe Buttons, handles cash transactions, records ticket and button sales on report.
Venue Supervisor: training and monitoring of all volunteer activities at a given venue, patron control, ensuring smooth venue operation, responsible for all ticket and Fringe Button sales and accurate reporting at their given venue, facilitating artist payouts, venue maintenance, be available and on hand to answer and deal with any and all questions, queries or complaints. Eligibilty Requirements: must have had previous supervisory/management experience, are good with people, highly competent, organized, good problem solvers, proficient on computers and spreadsheets, basic accounting knowledge, and good communicators.
Information Booth Captain: supervises all Information Booth activities, responsible for all ticket and Fringe Button sales and accurate reporting at the Information Booth, be available and on hand to answer and deal with any and all questions, queries or complaints. Eligibilty Requirements: must have had previous supervisory/management experience, are good with people, highly competent, organized, good problem solvers, proficient on computers and spreadsheets, basic accounting knowledge, and good communicators.
Fringe Ambassador: roams between the Information Booth, venues and along 9 Ave SE (in Inglewood)...walking ballot boxes, doing patron surveys, kibitzing with patrons, artists, and volunteers alike...generally having fun, working the lineups, making Fringe artists do impromptu skits of their shows as a promo, and giving everyone a wonderful Fringe experience!
Go'pher: runs around doing the Volunteer Coordinator's bidding. Things like doing a volunteer food run, picking up supplies, checking in with venues to make sure they are well stocked with food and cleaning supplies.
Staffing booths at auxiliary events: at events like Lilac Fest, Folk Fest, Sun n Salsa and others. Staffing the Fringe booth, passing out Fringe programs and swag, answer questions, engaging with people, obtain sign ups for volunteering and for our e-newsletter, and informing people what a Fringe is.
Board member: assists in the governance of the Calgary Fringe Festival Society, and with things like fundraising for the Society and setting up a succession plan.
Committee member: the ones that help take the Board policies and set them into action! Assists in the creating, development, and implementation of each area (example: Volunteer Committee, Fundraising and Development, Advocacy), with things like developing procedure manuals and handbooks or e-newsletter editing.
Event Project Manager: responsible for planning and overseeing the implementation of appreciation events for supporters of the Fringe.
